Bitcoin has had a rough time lately. The slightest jitters in market sentiment, and the candlesticks start putting on a free-fall show! 🤣
Now, everyone has their eyes on the U.S. October CPI release on November 10.
Why can one inflation reading make BTC so nervous?
Because CPI affects market expectations for the Fed's interest rate policy, and rate expectations in turn affect dollar liquidity, risk appetite, and capital allocation.
If inflation comes in below expectations, the market may see more room for rate cuts. The dollar and Treasury yields may come under pressure, risk-asset sentiment could improve, and BTC may get a chance to rebound.
If inflation comes in above expectations, the opposite could happen. Rate-cut expectations may weaken, the dollar may strengthen, risk appetite may decline, and Bitcoin could face further selling pressure.
But don't forget one detail: markets trade the gap between expectations and reality, not just the headline number.
Even if CPI falls, if the market has already bought the good news in advance, we could see a sell-the-news reaction.
So this time, I'm watching three signals more closely: headline CPI, core CPI, and how Treasury yields react after the data comes out.
Remember, don't treat macro data like lottery numbers.
