Gold may be busier than investors lately, dealing with dollar fluctuations while also keeping an eye on the Fed’s interest rate outlook!
On November 10, the U.S. October CPI report is due, and the data could give the gold market a new direction.
First, the logic:
If CPI comes in below market expectations, it could signal easing inflationary pressure and fuel expectations for rate cuts.
If the dollar and Treasury yields fall in tandem, the opportunity cost of holding gold could decline, potentially supporting prices.
But if CPI comes in above expectations, the market may once again worry about a resurgence in inflation, limiting the Fed’s room to cut rates. The dollar and Treasury yields could strengthen, putting short-term pressure on gold.
However, gold has another special role: a safe-haven asset.
If geopolitical conflicts, financial market risks, or safe-haven sentiment rise at the same time, gold may not necessarily fall entirely in line with traditional logic, even if the dollar strengthens.
So this time, don’t focus only on CPI. Also watch the dollar index, real Treasury yields, and global safe-haven sentiment.
Will gold keep shining, or temporarily lose its luster?
On November 10, the market may offer new clues.
Do you think gold will get a chance to rise this time, or see a pullback first?$NVDA
