Storage stocks have fallen nearly 20%, but smart money may not be in a hurry! Buying the dip in SanDisk now could mean catching it halfway down?
Many investors have a remarkable knack: they think prices are too high when they rise and not cheap enough when they fall.
SanDisk plunged nearly 20%, while Micron and SK Hynix also tumbled. The once-buzzing AI storage sector has suddenly turned into a massive psychological test.
Some are calling it a golden buying opportunity, others a major bear market, while still others say they’re bullish long term as they quietly open their accounts to calculate their losses.
So, can storage stocks be bought on the dip?
First, look at demand. AI servers aren’t ordinary computers; both training and inference rely on high-speed memory and data storage. As long as AI infrastructure continues to be built out, DRAM, HBM, and enterprise SSDs still have long-term growth potential.
Next, look at supply. The storage industry is highly cyclical. Expanding capacity takes time, and tight supply can push prices higher, but if capacity comes online too quickly, profits can also fall rapidly.
Finally, look at valuation. A 20% drop in the share price doesn’t mean the P/E ratio is cheap. If the market has already priced the next three years of earnings into today’s share price, then even another 10% drop may not be the bottom.
My strategy: don’t try to guess the bottom or go all in at once. First watch storage prices, earnings guidance, and AI capital spending, then assess opportunities in stages.
The biggest risk when buying the dip isn’t paying a little too much; it’s mistaking the first downward candlestick for the last discount sale before the bull market ends.
Cheap is a price; value is what matters in investing. $MU #Gate股票畅聊季
