On November 5, markets gave global investors a collective scare. The Nasdaq fell 5.52%, the S&P 500 fell 4.36%, the Dow fell 3.44%, and Bitcoin dropped about 6% in tandem, briefly falling below $76k.
We thought the market would keep rising after the election, but it was lively for just one day before everyone started cooling off. It seems the investment market is never short on surprises, but it is short on reassuring gains.
Those who may be feeling the most pain from this drop aren't those who never bought in, but those who chased the rally earlier and took on relatively large positions. When prices were rising, they thought they had a keen eye; it was only when prices fell that they realized risk management had long since fallen by the wayside.
Still, a sharp sell-off doesn't mean there are no opportunities in any assets. What's really worth watching is which assets still have solid fundamentals and which have simply been dragged down by market sentiment.
Rather than blindly trying to guess the bottom, it's better to review your holdings.
Who do you think has been hit harder by this downturn: U.S. stock investors or Bitcoin holders?$NVDA
