Buying stocks is like dating! When I’m bullish on a company, is it because of its fundamentals or because I’m caught up in the excitement?

What do you look at first when you’re bullish on a company? Revenue growth, industry prospects, or the CEO’s ability to paint a rosy picture?
To me, investing is a bit like dating. When you first meet, you notice the looks—that is, the stock price trend. Once you get to know each other, you look at the personality—that is, the company’s fundamentals. What really determines whether you can stay together long term is its ability to make money.
A company worth watching should have at least a few strengths: steady revenue and profit growth, healthy cash flow, a strong competitive position in its industry, and reliable management. If it also catches an industry tailwind, it’s practically a top-tier prospect in the world of investing.
But I do have concerns: good performance doesn’t mean the stock is cheap, and a compelling story doesn’t mean it will deliver in the future. What I fear most isn’t missing out on a big winner, but mistaking buying at the top for a heartfelt commitment.
So my principle is: look at the fundamentals first, then valuation, and finally market sentiment.
After all, it’s fine to get swept up in romance, but when buying stocks, it’s best to keep a clear head.
