If spot investors feel merely down when prices fall, highly leveraged traders may already be questioning their life choices.
BTC is down about 4% over the past 24 hours, ETH has fallen about 5.5%, and major assets like SOL and XRP are also broadly weaker. Market volatility has suddenly surged, and the chain reaction in the futures market is what calls for the most caution.
When prices drop rapidly, overly crowded long positions can trigger forced liquidations. The resulting selling pressure can push prices even lower, creating a classic leverage-driven cascade.
Of course, not every decline can be blamed on liquidations. A drop in global risk appetite, tightening liquidity, and cautious spot-market flows could also be important factors.
My take is that it’s unwise to add leverage blindly in the short term, and I especially wouldn’t keep adding to a position just to break even. You can wait for the market, but there’s no respawn token when your account gets liquidated.
Do you think this drop is a normal pullback or the start of a new wave of leveraged liquidations?$SPCX
