AI compute capacity squeeze panic! All 2029 capacity sold out—on the eve of a massive compute boom?

While Wall Street is still betting on rate-cut expectations, top capital has already bought up the “physical limits” of AI’s underlying infrastructure.

In the U.S. stock overnight session, semiconductor, optical communications, and memory stocks all rebounded, with $AAOI surging 5% and $LITE rising 3%.

Lumentum, a leader in optical communications, delivered a major statement: as tech giants scramble for AI data centers, its optical component capacity is completely sold out through early 2029! The shortfall will be as high as 70% next year, with a 30% gap still remaining in 2028. In April this year, its CEO had forecast a sellout in 2028—but reality is now far more extreme than the script.

In my view, the AI “arms race” has created a powerful compute overflow effect. Optical communications and memory are the blood vessels and ammunition of computing power. Traditional giants locking up capacity will inevitably subject decentralized computing and AI-themed tokens to the dual pressure of soaring hardware costs and surging demand.

Bull markets never lack stories; what they lack is a crushing advantage in underlying logic.

AAOI’s 5% gain in after-hours trading is just an appetizer.

As optical communications become the bottleneck for computing power, could decentralized computing power have an opportunity instead?

2029 production capacity is already sold out—this is surreal.

Lumentum’s CEO was still conservative in April; reality is ten times crazier than forecast.
