Today, I’m talking about just one stock: Illumina.

Traditional assets are changing tracks, and biotechnology is one of the entry points.
Illumina sells more than just a sequencer—it also sells the reagents that must be repurchased every time a sequence is read.
It is more like “land rent” in the new asset landscape: the ability to turn samples into data is used over and over again.

I’m looking at three things:
1. Whether laboratories are still reading sequences
2. Whether reagents and services are being repeatedly consumed
3. When new ways of reading emerge, whether they replace it or are added to the menu

Prices will make noise; direction comes before price.
The above is merely my own thinking and does not constitute investment advice.
