Why the $GT burn announcement for Q3 2026 is a strong fundamental signal for spot holders

Hello, colleagues! After the official announcement was published on Gate (link: https://www.gate.com/en/announcements/article/102086)), I decided to review my GT spot position once again. Let’s examine the latest fundamental data, overlay it with the technical picture, and assess our next steps.

📊 Fundamental backdrop: What the official figures say
According to the official announcement, Gate completed the token burn for Q3 2026. The figures are, to put it mildly, impressive:

· 1,987,321 GT were destroyed.
· The total value of the burned tokens exceeded $22.35 million.
· Most importantly: the cumulative burn reached 191.9 million GT. This reduced the total supply by 63.98% from the original 300 million.

Such a large-scale and regular deflationary mechanism is not just news—it provides fundamental price support. The fewer tokens in circulation, the stronger the pressure on supply, especially as demand from users of the Gate exchange and ecosystem continues to grow.

📈 Technical analysis of GT/USDT

· Weekly chart (1W): Looking at the global picture, we can see a confident breakout from a prolonged bear trend. The current price of $11.14 has established itself above all key moving averages (EMA5: 10.54, EMA10: 9.58, EMA30: 8.66). The weekly MACD is pointing upward, while OBV confirms capital inflows. The broader target is a return to the all-time high of $25.96, but this path will be gradual.
· Daily chart (1D): Here we can see an excellent local reversal from the $5.97 bottom. The price recently tested resistance at $11.52 and is now consolidating. The daily MACD is smoothing out slightly, which is normal after rapid growth—the market is building strength ahead of the next impulse. If we establish ourselves above $11.52, the next target is $14–15.

💼 My view on the spot position
Let me remind you of my portfolio: average entry price: $6.435, current price $11.14. Unrealized profit is +$851.11 (+73%).

Hold or take profit?
My strategy remains unchanged: holding (HODL).

1. Argument from the announcement: Burning 64% of the original supply is an extremely powerful long-term catalyst. Such actions by the Gate team demonstrate their commitment to the interests of holders.
2. Technical argument: We are in an uptrend. Selling an asset that has only just begun recovering from a multiyear bottom while also having such a strong fundamental backdrop would be short-sighted.
3. Risk management strategy: I am not selling, but I am adjusting my protection. My mental stop-loss has been moved to the breakeven zone (around $9.60–10.00). If the market undergoes a deep correction, I will consider adding to my position.

Bottom line: The official announcement confirmed my confidence in GT. This is not just a speculative asset, but a deflationary token with a real ecosystem.

How did you react to the burn news? Do you plan to hold until the end of the bull cycle, or are you taking profit at current levels? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇
