#DOGE Dogecoin’s New Application Network Is Live. Why Has the Dogecoin Price Not Reacted?

Dogecoin (DOGE) has barely moved since the DogeOS testnet opened to the public on September 30. The network allows developers to run smart contract applications that use DOGE to pay transaction fees. DogeOS was built by the team behind the MyDoge wallet. For Dogecoin holders, the launch means DogeOS adds new use cases beyond payments and tipping.

The Impact of the DogeOS Testnet on DOGE
DOGE has barely changed since its launch, and its price remains below its late-September peak. DogeOS is a zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup network, a layer-2 network that bundles transactions and verifies them cryptographically. Its documentation states that it stores data on Ethereum and relies on Dogecoin to ensure transaction finality.
It also supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). As a result, Ethereum developers can migrate existing applications with only minor changes.

DOGE is already used to pay fees on the Dogecoin mainnet.
According to the documentation, DOGE is also used on the DogeOS system to pay for running smart contracts. The team said early projects include liquidity engine Barkswap, perpetual exchange Derps, and prediction market aggregator Snag.

Why Has the Dogecoin Price Reacted Tepidly to the New Chain Launch?

However, the Dogecoin on the testnet comes from a faucet and has no real value. Therefore, the launch will not immediately create demand for the coin. Even on the mainnet, Rollup fees are usually very low. Bridged DOGE locked in applications could be more meaningful for holders.

Despite this, ecosystem supporters still see a turning point.
Timothy Stebbing, a director of the Dogecoin Foundation, hopes the Dogecoin operating system can become a gateway for 100 future Dogecoin startups. “While the purity of the L1 ledger must remain unchanged, we also need to introduce utility on top of it, and that is what DogeOS means to me.” Timothy Stebbing,
Dogecoin’s official account on X called the launch a major milestone and hinted that more ecosystem-related announcements would follow. Meanwhile, despite Bitwise deciding to close its Dogecoin ETF, Dogecoin ETFs still recorded record weekly inflows in late September.
However, the example of Shiba Inu is a cautionary one. Although the Shiba Inu ecosystem has served as the ecosystem’s second layer for years, its usage has declined sharply.
DogeOS’s documentation does not announce a mainnet launch date. Actual usage after the launch may determine whether DOGE’s new role will affect its price.#OneGate见证计划 $DOGE
