#MicronReportQ4Earnings

Micron Just Raised the Bar for the AI Memory Cycle

Micron Technology’s fiscal Q4 2026 earnings have now arrived, and the numbers show just how dramatically the AI infrastructure boom has transformed the memory-chip business.

Micron reported $54.23 billion in quarterly revenue, up from $41.46 billion in the previous quarter and $11.32 billion a year earlier. GAAP net income reached $37.70 billion, or $32.87 per diluted share, while non-GAAP EPS came in at $33.42. Operating cash flow was an extraordinary $43.97 billion.

The headline numbers were also above expectations. Adjusted EPS of $33.42 exceeded the roughly $31.35 consensus, while revenue of $54.23 billion came above estimates near $51 billion.

But for me, the most important part of this report is not simply the Q4 beat.

It is what Micron is saying about fiscal 2027.

AI Demand Is Still Driving the Numbers

Micron’s results show that memory has become one of the critical components of the AI infrastructure buildout.

Its Cloud Memory Business Unit generated $16.28 billion in Q4 revenue, compared with $13.77 billion in Q3.

Even more striking was the Core Data Center Business Unit, which reached $18.00 billion, up from $11.52 billion in the previous quarter. Its gross margin reached approximately 90%, highlighting the profitability of the current memory cycle.

This is important because AI servers require enormous amounts of high-performance memory, particularly HBM and advanced DRAM.

Gross Margin: Another Major Signal

Micron’s Q4 GAAP gross margin reached approximately 86.8%, while adjusted gross margin was around 87%. That is an extraordinary level compared with the company's historical memory-cycle volatility.

The bigger question now is whether these margins can remain elevated as Micron expands capacity and competitors also respond to the AI-driven demand surge.

For the next quarter, Micron expects adjusted gross margin around 86.25%, slightly below the Q4 level but still exceptionally strong.

The Forward Guidance Is Even More Interesting

Micron expects fiscal Q1 revenue of approximately $61.5 billion, with adjusted EPS around $38.15. That revenue outlook was above analyst expectations near $57 billion.

This means the company is not simply reporting a strong quarter.

It is signaling that demand could remain extremely powerful going into the next phase of the AI infrastructure cycle.

Micron also said customer commitments under strategic agreements increased to approximately $32 billion, while remaining performance obligations reached around $150 billion.

The Capital Spending Question

There is another side to the story.

Micron invested $10.77 billion in capital expenditures during Q4, bringing fiscal-year investment to $27.37 billion.

Management is increasing investment in manufacturing, technology and capacity because demand continues to outpace available supply.

Reports also indicate Micron expects substantial capital investment during the first half of fiscal 2027 as it expands manufacturing capacity.

My Key Takeaway

The Micron story has clearly moved beyond simply beating quarterly estimates.

The bigger discussion is now about how long the AI-memory shortage can remain tight, how high margins can stay, and how much capacity Micron needs to build to meet future demand.

Q4 delivered:

Revenue: $54.23B
GAAP EPS: $32.87
Non-GAAP EPS: $33.42
GAAP Gross Margin: ~86.8%
Operating Cash Flow: $43.97B
Q1 Revenue Guidance: $61.5B
Q1 Adjusted EPS Guidance: $38.15

For me, the most interesting signal is the combination of record financial performance, strong AI-driven demand, rising customer commitments and aggressive capacity investment.

The next chapter of the MU story may therefore depend less on whether Micron can produce another strong quarter and more on whether the AI memory cycle can remain supply-constrained through fiscal 2027 and beyond.

That is the number I’ll be watching most closely.
