This chart examines the 16 years between 1987 and 2016 when the opposing party controlled both the House and the Senate. The S&P 500 finished higher in 13 of those years.
If you exclude the 1990 recession and oil shock, the bursting of the tech bubble in 2000, and the 2008 global financial crisis the figure rises to 100% 😉👇
