📊 The Glassnode Week On-chain Week 38 report caught my attention specifically because of the figures on BTC spot trading on Gate. Over the past two years, Gate has risen 4 positions by BTC spot trading volume and is now among the global top three. Even more interestingly, Gate's share of BTC spot volume increased from 2.0% to 9.1% during this period. In other words, the increase amounted to 7.1 percentage points. According to Gate, this is the largest increase in share among the platforms analyzed in the report. For me, the two-year period is important, rather than any single month. Therefore, these figures are interesting to consider as a trend in changes to the structure of trading, rather than as a short-term spike.
🔎 Breaking down the figures separately:
— Gate's BTC spot volume ranking rose by 4 positions;
— its current position is third in the global ranking;
— its share increased from 2.0% to 9.1%;
— the net increase in share was 7.1 percentage points;
— over the past 24 months, Gate was in the top 3 for 9 months;
— this concerns BTC spot trading specifically, not derivatives.
These data clearly show that the change in volume took place over an extended period. At the same time, the ranking itself may change depending on participant activity and the overall market situation.
In my opinion, the most interesting question here is what exactly is behind this increase in share. Growth from 2.0% to 9.1% means that an increasingly active portion of BTC spot trading flow passed through Gate. At the same time, being in the top 3 for 9 months over the past two years shows that this was not merely one short market phase. It is also interesting that the figure changed against the backdrop of different market conditions, when trader activity could vary significantly. For BTC, spot volume is important because it directly reflects buying and selling activity in the asset itself. Therefore, this metric is interesting to track together with liquidity, volatility, and overall interest in BTC. I would not draw conclusions from a single ranking alone, but the two-year trend certainly deserves attention.
🚀 Now it is interesting to see what happens next. If Gate's share of BTC spot trading continues to grow, future Glassnode reports will make it possible to determine whether this trend is continuing. It will be especially interesting to compare the coming months with previous periods and see how stable Gate's presence in the top 3 remains. For traders, such data may be another indicator for tracking changes in trading activity around BTC. The cryptocurrency market remains highly dynamic, so rankings and shares can change. But it is precisely the duration of this trend that makes the statistics interesting to observe. And now I would like to hear the opinions of other Gate Square traders: have you noticed that lately you have been trading BTC more often specifically on Gate? And what, in your opinion, could have the greatest impact on future changes in spot volumes? 📈
