The rise in Bitcoin's price to once again break through the US$80,000 level was driven by a combination of several key factors:

Significant Spot Bitcoin ETF Inflows: The market recorded very strong capital inflows into spot Bitcoin ETF products. Data showed net inflows reaching tens to hundreds of millions of US dollars within a short period, such as the $433 million surge in mid-September, indicating strong institutional demand.

Wave of Short Position Liquidations (Short Squeeze): The sharp price surge accelerated when Bitcoin surpassed the psychological $80,000 level. This triggered the automatic liquidation of short positions worth hundreds of millions of US dollars on derivatives exchanges. The forced closure of these short positions triggered automatic buying in the market, adding to the buying pressure.

Macroeconomic Conditions & Inflation Dynamics: Market expectations and anticipation regarding United States economic policies—including responses to surging inflation and Federal Reserve interest rate dynamics—prompted some investors to shift assets back into high-value, high-risk instruments (risk-on assets) such as crypto.

Improved Positive Sentiment & Industry Infrastructure: Stronger digital market regulations, along with the introduction of various derivatives products and new trading features such as futures and regulated crypto assets, increased participation from both retail and institutional investors.

ETF inflows are insane—institutions can’t stay on the sidelines anymore when they see BTC.
