Xibei reportedly set to shut down completely

Verified blogger “Liji” revealed that Xibei, the top Chinese-style full-service dining brand for 11 consecutive years, will completely shut down within two or three months. Founder Jia Guolong will personally take on most of the debt, relinquish his shares, and retain only around 100 profitable stores for employees to operate independently.

Giving 100 profitable stores to employees to operate independently—is this a disguised partnership model?

Li Ji’s scoops have always been accurate. If Xibei really goes under, malls will have one fewer place to eat.

Jia Guolong’s move is pretty impressive: he took on all the debt and gave up his shares, leaving employees a way to survive—far better than those bosses who ran away.

The number-one player for eleven years collapsed just like that—the restaurant industry is truly a tale of two extremes.
