Not just number one in quantity, Gate’s stock perpetuals are competing on “coverage + liquidity”
When many people see “number one in the stock perpetual contract industry,” their first reaction may be: Is it simply because there are more underlying assets?
If you only look at the quantity, it is indeed easy to reach that conclusion.
But looking further into the data shows that Gate’s expansion this time is not simply a matter of “listing more assets.”
As of September 7, Gate had launched 385 stock-related perpetual contracts, ranking first in the industry by coverage; among the five high-volume assets SNDK, SKYNIX, SPCX, SOXL, and MU, Gate ranked first in 0.1% order book depth for all of them, leading competitors by approximately 5% to 28%.
In other words, it is expanding asset coverage while improving liquidity.
This is actually more important than simply adding a few more contracts.
For perpetual contract traders, what truly affects the trading experience is not just “whether an asset can be traded,” but also order book depth, funding rates, execution efficiency, and whether trading demand can be handled during market volatility.
Data shows that the 30-day funding rate volatility of Gate’s stock perpetual contracts was approximately 0.00245 percentage points, with average daily trading volume of approximately $1.15 billion and average open interest of approximately $738 million; the latter two metrics both ranked among the industry’s top three.
Looking at Gate’s overall TradFi strategy, its stock spot coverage exceeded 12.8k assets in August, while its stock derivatives covered more than 360 underlying assets.
Therefore, what is truly worth watching is not just the number 385.
Rather, Gate is attempting to build asset coverage, trading depth, and its product system together.
