Why did AI stocks rebound across the board after the Fed raised interest rates?
An interesting scene has emerged: The Fed has just raised interest rates, yet U.S. AI-concept stocks have staged a notable rebound. By traditional logic, rate hikes put pressure on valuations, with high-growth tech stocks especially vulnerable. However, on September 17, the Nasdaq rose 1.69%, while AI-industry stocks including NVIDIA, AMD, ARM, and Intel all climbed.
The reason may be that the market is not trading on the words “rate hike” themselves, but that after the rate hike, funds have begun searching again for certainty. The AI sector had previously undergone a sharp correction, and some stocks had already priced in a considerable amount of negative expectations. As U.S. Treasury yields and oil prices showed signs of easing, investors shifted their attention back to corporate earnings and AI capital expenditure.
In particular, the AI industry’s order-driven narrative remains relatively strong. AMD rose more than 6%, Intel more than 7%, and ARM more than 8%, showing that funds were not merely crowding into a single leader but were seeking upside across the semiconductor chain.
Of course, this does not mean that the impact of rate hikes on tech stocks has disappeared. The high-interest-rate environment will still raise data-center construction and financing costs, and AI companies must also prove that massive capital investments can translate into actual revenue and profits.
Therefore, what is most worth watching in the AI sector going forward is not how much it rises in a single day, but three variables: U.S. Treasury yields, AI capital expenditure, and the speed at which corporate orders are fulfilled.
If all three remain relatively stable, the market may continue to give the AI industry chain time; if any one of them deteriorates significantly, valuation pressure could reemerge. #Gate广场中秋团圆局 + #美股AI概念股全线反弹
