Arc Mainnet Is Live: 3 Things We Learned in the First 24 Hours

This week Circle opened the mainnet of its Layer-1 network, Arc. From day one, validators included names like BlackRock and Visa; the network was designed for stablecoin-driven financial applications, and 10 billion ARC tokens were minted into circulation. Protocols such as Aave V4, Morpho and Uniswap were ready on the very first day. This is the kind of launch we have not seen in crypto for a long time: high institutional weight, a clear narrative, and a real company behind it.

But what happened in the ecosystem's first hours looked much more like the "degen" side than the institutional one. Newly issued platform and meme tokens on Arc shot up vertically within hours, then gave it all back at almost the same speed. Names like ARGUS, LONG, TOLLY and COOL quickly became the ecosystem's most talked-about tickers — and then moved to the losers' board.

There are three lessons here. First: a strong institutional narrative does not permanently lift the price of ecosystem tokens. Second: in a new chain's first days, a large share of buyers are not users but short-term price-move hunters. Third: when liquidity is thin, both the rally and the selloff detach from real value.
