The market’s focus has shifted after the rate decision was announced

The Fed’s September meeting has concluded, with the policy rate raised by 25 basis points to 3.75%—4%. The official statement indicated that economic activity is expanding steadily and consumption remains resilient, but inflation is still elevated. The move was therefore intended to bring inflation back to the 2% target in a more timely manner.
According to the latest projections, the Fed expects 2026 GDP growth of 2.3%, an unemployment rate of 4.1%, PCE inflation of 3.7%, and a median federal funds rate of 4.1%.
So from here, the market’s central question has shifted from “Will rates be raised?” to “How long will high rates remain in place?” If inflation remains sticky, policy may stay tight; if employment and consumption cool significantly, the market will once again price in expectations for easing.
For BTC and U.S. stock investors, the rate decision is not the endpoint, but the starting point for a new round of macro repricing.
