U.S. Ethereum Spot ETFs See $142.3 Million Net Outflows in 24 Hours, Largest Since January
U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $142.3 million in net outflows on September 15, 2026, marking the largest single-day redemption since January and a sharp reversal from the steady inflows that had characterized much of the summer. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) led the withdrawals with $98 million, followed by Bitwise's ETHW at $34.4 million, Grayscale's ETHE at $17.5 million, and Fidelity's FETH at $7.2 million. Only ETHB and TETH managed to attract inflows, bringing in $12.4 million and $2.4 million respectively. The scale of the outflow represents an eight-month high for single-day net redemptions, underscoring the intensifying macro pressure on risk assets ahead of the Federal Reserve's September 15-16 FOMC meeting, where markets are pricing a 62% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike. Ether itself declined 4.93% over the same period, trading around $2,300, as the combination of surging U.S. Treasury yields, elevated oil prices above $90 per barrel, and a strengthening dollar weighed on the second-largest cryptocurrency. BlackRock shares dipped 0.63% as part of a broader equity market pullback. The Ethereum ETF outflows followed a similar pattern in the Bitcoin ETF space, where $450.4 million exited the market on the same day, reinforcing the view that institutional investors are reducing crypto exposure in response to tightening monetary policy expectations. For content creators, this is a critical story about the sensitivity of crypto ETFs to macroeconomic conditions and the challenges facing Ethereum's institutional adoption narrative amid a hawkish Fed.
