Oracle just delivered a strong Q1 FY2027 earnings report, and the numbers show why investors are paying close attention to its AI and cloud business.

Revenue reached $19.3 billion, up 30% year over year, while adjusted earnings came in at $1.92 per share, beating Wall Street expectations. The biggest highlight was cloud infrastructure, which jumped an impressive 121% to $7.4 billion.

Oracle also added more than $30 billion in new AI cloud contracts during the quarter, pushing its remaining performance obligations to a huge $664 billion. That gives investors a clearer picture of the demand Oracle is seeing for AI-related infrastructure.

The strong results initially sent Oracle shares up more than 5%, with the stock gaining as much as 7% in after-hours trading.

Still, there’s another side to the story. Oracle is spending heavily to expand its data-center capacity, so investors will continue watching cash flow, capital spending and margins.

Overall, this quarter looks like another sign that AI demand is becoming a major growth engine for Oracle.
