Continuing yesterday’s weekend strategy, weekend liquidity was thin, and the main move was still Friday night’s long-short wipeout, leaving nearly everyone who was trading at the time either liquidated or trapped.

As a right-side trader, although I lost $ETH $BTC on short positions, the profits from my long positions have already turned the hole into a small hill. Entry timing is crucial. Many people get trapped or liquidated because they fail to plan their positions, rely on feelings, and set no stop-losses. Everything follows a traceable pattern, and wishful thinking is the greatest sin.

I caught BTC’s long move on the evening of August 19, and I also caught ETH’s long move on Friday evening, September 11. Left-side trading naturally has a high win rate because the position is large and the time frame is long, but the profits it can generate are only so-so. Right-side trading may appear to have a lower win rate than left-side trading, but with the same position size, it can generate more profit.

As I always say, if you cannot even preserve your principal, do you still expect to get rich overnight? Trading is not just about talking; it requires continuously accumulating and combining diligence, experience, data, and ideas.

First Review
Over the past 24 hours, $674 million was liquidated across the market, with nearly 100k positions wiped out on-chain and on exchanges. Shorts accounted for $381 million in liquidations, while longs accounted for $292 million, so on the surface, shorts appear to have taken the heavier losses.
Bitcoin’s long and short liquidations were basically evenly split, both hovering around $90 million. Ethereum, however, was a one-sided slaughter: $96.73 million in long positions were liquidated, compared with $215 million in short positions. The $20.28 million single-position ETH-USD liquidation on Hyperliquid was most likely a large, highly leveraged short seller whose entire margin was consumed by the matching mechanism at the moment funding rates and liquidity tightened extremely sharply.
The apparent driver behind this violent shakeout was macroeconomic data. Core CPI came in 0.1% higher month-over-month, and the seemingly minor deviation directly pushed the probability of a rate hike to 80%; U.S. Treasury yields approached 5%, while crude oil settled above $104.
