‌ is getting attention, but the interesting part isn't the recent green candle.

It's the gap between Meteora's protocol activity and what MET holders actually capture from it.

Meteora processed around $32B in H1 2026 and generated about $140M in LP fees. That shows there is real economic activity behind the protocol.

But strong protocol activity doesn't automatically mean the token captures that value.

That's where MET gets interesting.

Referral Staking went live in July, allowing stakers to earn USDC from eligible DLMM protocol fees. Cycle 1 ended with roughly 76M MET staked and about $336K in USDC rewards.

That's a real step toward connecting the token with the protocol's economics.

But there's an important caveat.

Meteora bought back about $1M of MET in Q1, while Q2 recorded no buybacks. The buyback policy is discretionary, not an automatic share of revenue.

So the story isn't simply:

“Meteora generates huge fees, therefore MET should go up.”

The better question is:

How much of that economic activity will consistently reach MET holders?

The recent price move also doesn't appear to have a clear new fundamental catalyst. No fresh listing, major buyback announcement, or other market-moving event was identified this week.

That makes the short-term bounce look more like Solana DeFi rotation and speculation than a new fundamental repricing.

For MET, I'd watch what happens underneath the price:

► Does Cycle 2 maintain or grow staking participation?

► Does protocol volume and revenue remain strong?

► Do buybacks resume?

► How does the September unlock interact with market liquidity?

Meteora has built a sizable liquidity engine.

The next question is whether MET becomes a stronger claim on the value that engine creates.
