Hyperliquid’s token-burning scale puts it in the top tier among DEXs, right?

This buyback-and-burn routine hasn’t lifted the token price much, but the numbers sure look good.

A cumulative $4.1 billion has been burned—equivalent to burning the GDP of a small country. That’s one hardcore narrative.

The federated wallet of the Liquid sidechain network experienced a severe fund irregularity, with nearly 4,000 Bitcoin (approximately $320 million in market value) illegally withdrawn. The perpetrator left a message directly on the blockchain, claiming to be a “white-hat hacker” and demanding negotiations through on-chain channels.

An in-depth investigation into the underlying cause of the security incident found that the Elements fork used by Liquid nodes suffered a failure in range-proof verification caching. The nodes originally used only “the proof itself plus the amount commitment” as the cache key. Exploiting this logical oversight, the attacker was able to mint the corresponding L-BTC assets out of thin air without backing from an equivalent Bitcoin reserve, and then cash out the real Bitcoin in the treasury through the peg-out mechanism.

4.84% may not look like much, but $4.1 billion has already been burned—the HYPE deflationary model is truly ruthless.

Repurchased at an average price of $86—what is the current price? Is there any arbitrage opportunity?
