Gate.io Launches Unified USD Order Book, Integrating Multiple Dollar-Pegged Assets

Gate.io announced on September 1 the launch of its Unified USD Order Book, a significant product upgrade that integrates multiple dollar-pegged assets—including USD, USDC, USD1, and RLUSD—into a single spot trading market. This new mechanism consolidates liquidity from various USD-denominated quote assets into one centralized order book, aiming to deepen market depth, improve liquidity, and enhance execution efficiency. Traders can access this feature by updating the Gate mobile app to version 8.35 or higher, or through the web platform. When trading pairs like BTC/USD, participants can choose their preferred quote asset from the supported options—USD, USDC, USD1, or RLUSD—and all orders flow into the same centralized order book for matching, with price levels and order depth displayed uniformly in USD. The system automatically handles asset conversion, clearing, and settlement, eliminating the need for manual currency exchanges. Currently, this feature is limited to spot trading and does not cover isolated or cross-margin markets. Gate.io has indicated that more dollar-pegged stablecoins may be added in the future. This unified model represents a departure from traditional arrangements where each stablecoin had its own separate quote market, and it strengthens the connection between USD asset management and digital asset trading.

Previously, each stablecoin was market-made separately; now they are pooled together, which is actually good for retail investors.

No more switching between different stablecoins—one pool handles it all.

Tested the app 8.35—BTC/USD order book is indeed much deeper, with less slippage.

Can RLUSD also be included in the unified ledger? Interesting—PayPal-affiliated stablecoins are starting to gain traction.

Gate’s move here makes sense; putting USDC and USD1 together will indeed improve liquidity.
