Chinese Memes This Year: The Ninth Fifth Line of the Qian Hexagram—Seeing a Group of Dragons Without a Leader
Last October, the official account promoted the Chinese Meme sector, with “I’m F***ing Here,” “Open Sesame,” and “I’m the Boss” taking turns entering the fray. Now, nearly a year has passed.
The Qian hexagram in the I Ching says: “A group of dragons appears without a leader. Auspicious.”
What does this mean? A group of dragons rises together, yet no single dragon remains king forever. Isn’t that precisely a portrait of the Chinese Meme scene? You hit the limit-up today, someone else goes to zero tomorrow—no one can truly remain at the crest of the wave forever.
The six lines of the Qian hexagram, from “The hidden dragon. Do not act” to “The overreaching dragon will have cause for regret,” say that everything has its own proper time and position. A Meme coin is a “hidden dragon” just after launch, when nobody knows about it; when its price is being pumped, it is a “flying dragon in the sky”; by the time you rush in with FOMO, it has often already become an “overreaching dragon”—a peak cannot last forever.
So when trading Chinese Meme coins, the core principle is just this: know the timing and hold your position.
Don’t be timid when it’s time to charge, and don’t be greedy when it’s time to run. This isn’t telling you not to believe; it’s telling you to know when to advance and when to retreat. The I Ching has never been fatalistic. What it teaches is this: stop when it is time to stop, act when it is time to act, and do not lose the proper timing in movement or stillness.
A group of dragons without a leader is auspicious. Because the real opportunity lies not in “following one dragon all the way,” but in “understanding which dragon is taking flight.”
