Event Contracts are a lightweight trading product launched by Gate, centered on “predicting price direction.” You only need to predict whether the prices of mainstream assets will rise or fall over a short period in the future, then choose bullish or bearish to participate, without analyzing complex mechanisms such as leverage and margin as with traditional futures.
I. Core Features
Simple operation: Simply predict the direction (up/down), select the price, enter the quantity, and submit the order
Zero leverage, no liquidation: Uses a zero-leverage design, with the maximum loss limited to the principal invested at opening, and no excess losses incurred
Automatic settlement: The system automatically completes settlement and clearing when the period ends, with funds credited automatically and no manual operation required
Close positions at any time: Positions can be sold and closed at any time before expiration, allowing flexible profit-taking and stop-loss management
II. Supported Assets and Periods
Currently supports four mainstream cryptocurrencies—BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP—and offers four short periods: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours.
III. Pricing and Profit/Loss Rules
Contract prices range from 0.01–0.99 USDT, with the price reflecting the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring (for example, 0.65 USDT ≈ a 65% probability)
When the prediction is correct, each contract pays out a fixed 1 USDT; when the prediction is incorrect, the contract’s value becomes zero
Settlement relies on Chainlink’s TWAP (time-weighted average price) to determine whether prices rise or fall, rather than the platform’s own market data, avoiding price spikes and interference from momentary price fluctuationsFees and thresholds
The minimum investment per order is 5 USDT, and the minimum order quantity is 6 contracts
Fees are charged only for opening and closing positions (at dynamic rates); expiration settlement incurs zero fees, with no hidden charges such as holding fees, overnight fees, or funding rates
IV. How to Participate
Open the Gate App (go to the 【Futures】 section and switch to 【Event Contracts】) or log in to the Gate official website (select 【Event Contracts】 from the 【Futures】 dropdown menu in the top navigation) to enter the trading interface.
