Unitree Robotics: The Robot Revolution Is Real. The Valuation Is the Question.

Unitree just gave investors a glimpse of what the future of robotics could look like.

And then the market gave us an equally important reminder:

Great technology doesn't automatically mean a great stock at any price.

Unitree surged nearly 6x in its Shanghai debut yesterday, briefly reaching RMB 1,100 before closing much lower. Today, the shares pulled back around 11%.

That's exactly what makes this interesting.

I'm bullish on the robotics industry.

But I'm not prepared to chase Unitree simply because humanoid robots are exciting.

The long-term thesis is compelling.

China is investing heavily in robotics.

Unitree is already one of the leading humanoid and quadruped robot manufacturers, and unlike many early-stage robotics companies, it has generated profits.

But there's another side of the story.

The technology is still developing.

Commercial adoption remains limited, and Unitree's own CEO has suggested that a major breakthrough in robot intelligence could still take years.

So my view is simple:

Bullish on the industry.
Interested in Unitree.
Not interested in chasing a vertical move.

I'd rather watch how the stock behaves after the IPO euphoria fades.

If the company continues improving its technology, expanding deployments and growing revenue while the valuation becomes more reasonable, the long-term opportunity could be significant.

But if expectations run far ahead of execution...

The robot won't be the only thing moving fast.

What do you think?

🤖 Bullish: Unitree can become a global robotics leader.

📉 Bearish: The market has already priced in too much future growth.

I'm watching the execution, not the hype.

Interesting: on one side is the narrative of a technological revolution, and on the other is the reality of valuation bubbles. I side with the latter. Unless future performance can repeatedly prove me wrong, the real test will come after this wave of hype recedes.

Honestly, Unitree’s quadruped robots are genuinely impressive, but commercial deployment is still a long way off. The CEO himself said breakthroughs will take years—so rushing in now is basically becoming exit liquidity, isn’t it?

Strong technology and a strong stock price are two different things. Unitree’s products are indeed impressive, but with a sixfold valuation on the first day of its listing, I’ll wait and see how things play out.

I agree with the author’s view. There’s nothing wrong with the industry trend, and Unitree is also a top player. But between the 1,100 price and the current 11% pullback, how many people are stuck halfway up? There’s nothing wrong with being rational.

First Review
I’m bullish on the robotics sector for the long term, but I really can’t bring myself to chase the rally. I’ll wait until sentiment cools down—there’s no need to rush over the next day or two anyway.
