Seeing what happened with Coldcard, I realized that even the toughest hardware wallets can’t protect users if they’re careless themselves. That’s right—no matter how hard the hardware is, it can’t stop users from failing to back up their mnemonic phrase. Safety first: the one responsible is always you yourself.

I’m the kind of careless person—luckily, a friend reminded me to regularly check the firmware version, or else I might’ve been in trouble already.

Actually, Coldcard is already very secure, but many people can’t even be bothered to read the official firmware upgrade—if something goes wrong, it’s not really the wallet’s fault.

Seeing this made me suddenly remember that I used to upload screenshots of my seed phrase to the cloud drive. Now that I think about it, I’m getting chills down my spine. User education is as important as product design.
