Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas: Bitcoin will be more valuable than gold

In a recent interview about fiat money, Salinas suggested that the market capitalization of Bitcoin could soon match that of gold, which currently stands at around $22 trillion. According to the billionaire, Bitcoin has immense growth potential, and from the current mark of $105,000, it could rise at least eight times to match gold's metrics. At that point, the price of Bitcoin would reach approximately $1.1 million per coin.

Salinas noted that in 2023, the growth of Bit was 156%, while in 2024 it was 121%. Unlike the first cryptocurrency, gold showed modest growth: in 2023 it was 14%, and last year it was 26.59%. Bit has a stronger price dynamic compared to the precious metal, Salinas emphasized. He believes that in the future, Bit will become a new reserve asset that can replace traditional fiat currencies and precious metals.

Salinas's net worth is estimated at $5.8 billion, and the billionaire is increasingly investing in bitcoin. In one interview, Salinas stated that he allocated about 70% of his liquid portfolio to bitcoin. The remaining 30% of his funds are distributed among gold and gold mining companies. He has no stocks or bonds, except for his own businesses.

Earlier, Salinas mentioned several reasons for buying bitcoin: the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrency instantly, as well as protection against rising inflation and the decline in the value of government currencies.
