According to The Kobeissi Letter, the recent 1-year U.S. credit default swaps have reached 52 basis points, close to the highest level since 2023. The cost of insurance against a U.S. government default is at its highest level in 12 years, indicating that investors are increasingly concerned about its deficit issues. The outstanding amount has risen to $3.9 billion, the second highest since 2014, showing an increased risk of U.S. government default.
