What Is Volume?
You can look at Bitcoin's price and see where it moved.
But volume can help you understand how much participation was behind that move.
🔹 What Does Trading Volume Mean?
Trading volume is the amount of an asset that changes hands during a specific period.
For example, if BTC suddenly breaks above a major resistance zone, volume helps you see whether there was strong market participation behind the move.
Think of it like the energy behind price.
🔥 High vs Low Volume
High volume means there is a lot of trading activity.
It can suggest:
▪️ Strong market participation
▪️ Increased interest
▪️ Greater conviction behind a move
Low volume means less trading activity.
It can suggest:
▪️ Lower participation
▪️ Less conviction
▪️ A weaker or less reliable move
But volume should always be viewed in context.
🎯 How Does Volume Support Price Analysis?
Imagine BTC has been stuck below $100K resistance.
Suddenly, BTC breaks above $100K.
📈 Breakout + strong volume → suggests stronger participation behind the move.
Now imagine: Breakout + very low volume → the move may deserve more caution.
The same idea works during breakdowns.
A support break with increasing selling volume can suggest stronger participation from sellers.
⚠️ Volume Isn't a Standalone Signal
High volume doesn't automatically mean price will go up.
Low volume doesn't automatically mean price will fall.
Volume simply gives you additional information about participation and conviction.
Use it with:
▪️ Market structure
▪️ Support & resistance
▪️ Candlestick patterns
▪️ Trend
▪️ Breakout/retest confirmation
Remember:
Price shows you the move.
Volume shows you the participation behind it.
