SlowMist’s Chief Information Security Officer 23pds disclosed on May 8 that Linux systems have a critical privilege escalation vulnerability called Dirty Frag; full details and exploit code have been published. Any local low-privilege user can, without needing specific system conditions, directly obtain root administrator privileges on the affected systems. The emergency mitigation measures are to disable the three modules esp4, esp6, and rxrpc.
