SanDisk announced a $14 billion share buyback authorization on Wednesday, raising total exercisable authorization to $15.5 billion. The chipmaker's sales rose 372% to $8.97 billion, beating Wall Street expectations. Micron is expected to announce a major buyback after December, when U.S. government-imposed buyback restrictions under the CHIPS Act expire. Both companies are also rapidly expanding manufacturing capacity: Micron committed to investing more than $250 billion in U.S. fabs through 2035, while SanDisk is deepening its partnership with Kioxia on NAND plants in Japan through 2034.
