South Korea Capital Region Apartment Sales Outlook Falls to 88.5 in August, Down 14 Points on Rate Hikes

According to Housing Industry Research Institute, South Korea's capital region apartment subscription outlook index fell to 88.5 in August, down 14.0 points month-over-month, the institute disclosed on August 6. The decline was driven by higher interest rates, tightened lending regulations, and reduced mortgage limits at commercial banks, which increased financing burdens for developers. Non-capital regions showed stronger sentiment, with the outlook index rising 9.8 points to 94.2, buoyed by large-scale semiconductor cluster development plans announced in the Yeonghonam region and easing supply constraints.
