According to CNBC, investor Michael Burry warned on August 4 that the stock market could experience a decline similar to Black Monday in 1987, when the Dow Jones fell 22.6% in a single day. Writing on Substack, Burry, known for predicting the 2008 financial crisis, stated he still believes the market may be approaching a major peak. He cautioned that rising stock prices combined with low volatility encourage automated leverage strategies, which can amplify sharp declines when selling occurs. The S&P 500 reached a record high, marking its first new peak since June 2.
