According to Harbert Capital's mid-year investor presentation, memory chip makers Micron Technology, SK Hynix, and Samsung Electronics have reached or exceeded $1 trillion in market value this year as AI infrastructure demand drives unprecedented investment in storage chips. Micron's stock surged 240% year-to-date, reaching a market capitalization of $1.1 trillion, while SK Hynix raised $26.5 billion in its NASDAQ debut this month, marking the largest overseas corporate IPO financing on record. Samsung's shares in South Korea gained 116% year-to-date. The three companies have become dominant suppliers of DRAM chips essential for hyperscale cloud providers building AI data centers. According to Harbert Capital, DRAM pricing remains resilient and memory chip supply constraints are unlikely to ease before 2028, securing the suppliers' pricing power for at least two more years.
