Iranian MP Disputes Trump's Negotiation Stance, Citing 75 False Claims on August 5

According to Iran's state broadcaster IRIB, an Iranian parliamentary official criticized U.S. President Trump's approach to negotiations with Iran as contradictory and unreliable on August 5. MP Esmail Kowsari, a member of Iran's parliament's National Security Committee, cited specific examples: Trump falsely claimed 75 times that the Strait of Hormuz was open, referenced Iran's failure 106 times, and mentioned imminent agreements with Tehran 88 times.

Trump stated Tuesday evening that the U.S. and Iran could reach a deal within hours. However, Iranian officials have repeatedly denied conducting direct negotiations with Washington.
