According to The Block, on August 5, three Missouri men—Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams—were charged by federal prosecutors with conspiracy to commit robbery over a plot to steal bitcoin, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.
The case traces back to August 2024, when authorities arrested six Florida residents involved in violent carjacking and kidnapping. The conspirators targeted the parents of an individual linked to the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in BTC. Between August 21-24, the three men traveled to Connecticut, rented vehicles, and gathered supplies including air rifles and radios to track their targets and planned to break into their home to coerce the transfer of stolen cryptocurrency. They abandoned the scheme after fears of surveillance footage and frustration with execution, later leaving Connecticut as another group from Florida arrived to attempt the robbery.
