South Korean Retail Investors Sell $664M of SOXL on August 3, Shift to Individual Chip Stocks

According to the Korean Depository Institution portal, South Korean retail investors sold $664 million net of SOXL (Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3X Shares) on August 3, marking their first major profit-taking move after accumulating $3.78 billion of the 3x leverage semiconductor ETF in July. The single-day selloff represented 17.5% of the prior month's cumulative purchases.

Concurrently, retail investors increased positions in individual semiconductor stocks. Micron led with $140.83 million in net purchases, followed by SanDisk at $145.47 million. SK Hynix ADR received $93.23 million in inflows, ranking third among chip stocks bought during the same period.
