Data: U.S. banking industry has unrealized losses of nearly $400 billion

PANews February 25 News, according to the latest FDIC data released by Solid Intel, the unrealized losses on investment securities in the U.S. banking system approach $400 billion. The chart shows that since 2022, due to rapid interest rate increases, held-to-maturity (HTM) and available-for-sale (AFS) securities have experienced significant paper losses. Although these losses have narrowed from their peak, they remain at high levels overall.
