U.S. House Speaker: The White House is handling Greenland issues through diplomatic channels

Odaily Planet Daily reported that on January 7th, local time, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson stated that he believes the White House is handling the Greenland issue through diplomatic channels and does not think anyone is discussing the use of military force against Greenland. Previously, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the Trump team was discussing a "range of options" for acquiring Greenland, and that deploying U.S. military forces "is always an available option." Regarding this statement, Johnson said that the U.S. always has military options on any issue, but this is only a principled statement. "I think that's a general statement. On the Greenland issue, it’s clear that we are advancing through diplomatic channels." Johnson also said he does not believe anyone is discussing the use of military force against Greenland. Johnson stated that the U.S. always reserves military options on all issues, but on the Greenland issue, "it is very clear that we are handling it through diplomatic channels."
