Over 60 "wrench" attack incidents targeting cryptocurrency holders are expected in 2025

PANews January 2 News, according to The Block, crypto analytics firm TRM Labs' Head of Global Policy and Government Affairs Ari Redbord stated that 2025 is a record-breaking year for "wrench" attacks, with approximately 60 physical attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders. Ari Redbord added, "The actual number could be much higher. Many cases are only recorded as robberies or burglaries, overlooking the cryptocurrency aspect; some cases are never reported due to victims' hesitation or uncertainty about how law enforcement will handle crimes related to cryptocurrencies. In comparison, about 41 wrench attack incidents were recorded in 2024, and about 36 in 2021."
