This World Cup, Yamal hasn’t lived up to very high expectations. So far in this tournament, he has played 6 matches, scoring 1 goal and 0 assists. Compared with Mbappé of the same age group (Mbappé was only one year older than him when he participated in the World Cup), his record at the time was 7 matches, 4 goals, and 1 assist. It can be said that Yamal’s current performance hasn’t met the public’s extremely high expectations of him as an “efficient goal-scorer.”
