Explanation of Leverage Restriction Rules During Special Periods

To enhance risk management and ensure trading stability during periods of high volatility, Gate CFD will implement temporary leverage restrictions and fund withdrawal restrictions on certain trading products during specific market periods. This mechanism is designed to reduce exposure to risks brought by extreme market conditions and maintain the overall stability of the trading environment.

1. Applicable Periods

1. Major Macroeconomic Event Announcements

Temporary leverage restrictions will be applied before and after the release of the following key economic data:

• Effective Time: From 15 minutes before data release to 5 minutes after release
• Applicable Announcement Types (including but not limited to):
  (1) USD-related announcements: FOMC (Federal Reserve interest rate decisions), CPI (Consumer Price Index), PMI (Purchasing Managers Index), PPI (Producer Price Index), GDP (Gross Domestic Product), PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures), retail sales data, NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls), ADP (private sector employment data)
  (2) Crude oil-related announcements: Crude Oil Inventories
  (3) Non-US economic entity announcements: Important macroeconomic indicators released by non-US entities, such as CPI, PMI, GDP, etc.

2. Market Closures and Opening Periods

During periods of low market liquidity or heightened price volatility risk, leverage restrictions will be applied to all trading products:

• 4 hours before market close on Fridays
• 1 hour before market close from Monday to Thursday
• 10 minutes after market opening on Mondays

2. Scope of Application

1. Impact of Macroeconomic Events

Different types of economic data affect corresponding trading products:

• USD-related announcements: Affect Forex, precious metals (gold/silver), indices
• Crude oil-related announcements: Affect crude oil
• Non-US economic entity announcements: Affect Forex

2. Specific Periods (Market Closure/Opening)

• Restrictions during the above periods apply to all trading products

3. Restriction Rules

During the restriction period, the maximum available leverage for new positions will be adjusted as follows (only applies to products supporting multiple leverage levels):

Maximum leverage may be temporarily adjusted based on market volatility.

4. Execution Instructions

• During the restriction period, new positions will be executed according to the above leverage limits
• If the leverage selected by the user is below the restriction limit, it will not be affected
• After the restriction period ends, new positions will revert to normal leverage rules
• Existing positions will not be affected by these temporary leverage adjustments
• During the restriction period, to enhance account resilience against high volatility and gap risks, when users close one side of a hedged position or withdraw funds, the post-operation margin ratio must not fall below 1000%. The platform may adjust this based on market volatility.

5. Risk Warning

During macroeconomic data releases and periods of low market liquidity, market volatility may intensify significantly, with wider spreads and increased slippage risk. Gate reserves the right to adjust the maximum leverage available during these periods and recommends users to:

• Manage leverage levels prudently
• Plan positions and risk exposure in advance
• Closely monitor changes in margin ratios
