NYDIG: The Crypto Bill has its last window in August; if the Democrats win the election, they may undo all prior progress.
NYDIG’s Greg Cipolaro said that if the Senate does not fully vote to pass the crypto market structure bill before August, the risk is that it will be delayed or fail. The bill requires 60 votes; passage would categorize Bitcoin as a CFTC-regulated commodity, while failure would mean long-term regulatory uncertainty. If the August window is missed, the most likely path is the lame-duck session after the election, assuming the Republican Party controls the Senate and that Thune takes priority.
