Submit the transfer request at your outgoing broker

Submit a transfer request to the broker that holds your stocks, and be sure to provide the following correct receiving information:

  • Broker name: RQD Clearing LLC

  • Account number: Your Gate UID (viewable by tapping your avatar on the Gate app home page)

  • DTC number: 4305

  • CCASS number: B01231

  • Settlement counterparty contact: Settlement

  • Settlement counterparty email: settlement@gate.com (This email is for institutional communication only.)

Submit the incoming transfer request on Gate

Step 1: Go to the entry

Path: TradFi → More → Common Functions → Stock Transfer In

After entering, select the market type: US stocks or HK stocks.

Step 2: Fill in the outgoing broker information

Fields required:

  • Broker name: Required. Enter the name of the broker you are transferring from.

  • Account number: Required. Enter your account number with the broker you are transferring from.

  • DTC number / CCASS number: Required.

    • For US stocks, enter the DTC number

    • For HK stocks, enter the CCASS number

  • Beneficial owner name on Gate: Required. This name must exactly match the legal name registered on your account with the broker you are transferring from; otherwise, the transfer may be rejected by that broker.

All required fields must be completed before you can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Fill in stock information

  • Ticker symbol: Required. Search is supported (you can search the full range of US and HK stocks currently available on the platform).

  • Number of shares: Required. Enter the number of shares you want to transfer in. Whole shares only.

  • Cost price: Optional. The cost price is used only for later P&L display and calculation and does not affect the transfer request. If you do not enter it, the cost will be calculated based on the latest price when the transfer-in is completed.

Step 4: Confirm and submit

The confirmation page shows the outgoing broker information, the beneficial owner name, and the stock information, and lets you go back to make changes.

Gate processes the transfer via FOP, and incoming transfers are free. The transfer is expected to take 3–15 business days, depending largely on how quickly both brokers process the request.

Step 5: Successful submission and email notification

e.jpeg

After you submit successfully, your request will be processed once both brokers have verified and confirmed all submitted information.

From the application date, the transfer is expected to take 3–15 business days to complete, and the actual time depends largely on the other broker's processing speed. You will receive an update on the final transfer status by email and/or platform message.

Important Notes

  • Incoming transfers are free, but you must initiate the outgoing transfer at your original broker; Gate cannot do it on your behalf.

  • Beneficial owner name must match the legal name on the other broker's account; otherwise, the transfer may be rejected.

  • If the broker name, account number, or DTC/CCASS number is entered incorrectly, the request may fail or be delayed.

  • Whole shares only; fractional shares cannot be transferred in.

  • Stocks not listed on Gate may not be eligible for transfer-in. Refer to the search results on the page for details.

  • Submitting a request does not mean the shares will arrive instantly; both brokers and the clearing institution need time to process the transfer.

  • Stock transfer requests are supported on the app only

FAQ

1. Which stocks can I transfer in?
Currently, US stocks and HK stocks are supported. When initiating a transfer, you can search for supported instruments on the platform. Whole shares only; fractional shares cannot be transferred in.

2. Does it cost to transfer in? Incoming transfers are free. If the other broker charges a fee, that broker's rules apply.

3. How long does it take?
It is expected to take about 3–15 business days, depending on the processing efficiency of both brokers and the clearing institution. Actual progress will determine the final timing.

4. How can I check the request status?

Path: More → Common Functions → Stock Transfer In → Application Records. Click an application record to view the details and transfer progress.

5. Why haven't my shares arrived after I submitted the request?
After submission, the request enters the processing flow, and the transfer is not completed in real time. Check your application records first; if there is still no progress after 15 business days, contact both brokers to confirm the status.

6. Do I have to enter the cost price?
The cost price is optional and is used only as a reference for P&L display; it does not affect the transfer request. If you do not enter it, the cost will be calculated based on the latest price when the transfer-in is completed.

7. What should I enter for the beneficial owner name? What will happen if it does not match?
The beneficial owner name must exactly match the legal name registered on the other broker's account, including any middle name or spelling difference. A mismatch may cause the transfer to be rejected. If necessary, contact customer support for additional identity verification.
