About Meter (MTRG)

Meter is an EVM high-performance public chain based on the HotStuff2 consensus, Meter's governance token MTRG uses a POS to protect the security of the network, and MTR, a semi-stable coin generated with Bitcoin miner POW, pays for the network's Gas.

Use Cases and Features

MTRG is the governance token of the Meter network and the staking asset in its PoS (proof-of-stake) ledger consensus. Holders can stake as validators themselves or delegate to validators to participate in transaction confirmation; they can also vote on governance matters including monetary policy, MTR production parameters, and feature updates. Meter uses MTRG to manage the blockchain ledger, while MTR is another token in the network.

Supply and Issuance Mechanism

MTRG's circulating supply increases through daily issuance used for network security. Staking rewards come from annual network issuance; the stated annual issuance rate is 5%, though this rate can be changed through governance. Validators and delegators may choose to use earned MTR in on-chain auctions to bid for newly issued MTRG; without automatic bidding, rewards are received as MTR.
