[Iranian official: Iran currently has the legal right to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons] The head of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament stated that according to Article 10 of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Iran currently has the legal right to withdraw from the treaty. Article 10 of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons states that if a contracting party determines that extraordinary events related to the subject of this treaty have endangered its supreme national interests, it has the right to withdraw from this treaty in exercise of its national sovereignty. The country shall notify all other contracting parties and the United Nations Security Council of this matter three months prior to withdrawal.
