GALA used for GalaChain fees is burned, meaning it is permanently removed from supply. Official information also states that when certain NFT sales are settled in GALA, the GALA received is burned; therefore, the former is triggered by actual payment of on-chain fees, while the latter applies only to sales meeting that settlement condition. Both reduce the number of existing tokens, but this does not mean every ecosystem sale or every use of GALA automatically burns tokens.

Q: How are GALA supply and emissions arranged?

GALA has a maximum supply of 50 billion tokens. In August 2024, official information stated that daily new issuance is calculated as 0.25% of the difference between the maximum supply and the total supply at that time: daily new issuance = (50 billion − total supply) × 0.25%. Therefore, all else being equal, as total supply approaches the maximum supply, that difference becomes smaller and the daily new issuance calculated under this rule also becomes smaller. This was the dynamic emission rule announced at that time, not a guarantee that future rules will remain unchanged.

Q: What is the relationship between a Founder’s Node and GALA?

A Founder’s Node is a type of node that supports the Gala Games ecosystem. To receive a share of the daily GALA distribution, an operator must have met the official minimum active-time requirement during the preceding 24 hours; without meeting that prerequisite, the operator is not eligible for that daily distribution. Node operators can also vote on important ecosystem decisions through node software. This node-level participation mechanism is not equivalent to automatically receiving company equity or fixed income merely by holding GALA.

Q: Why does GALA have a v2 version?

In May 2023, Gala launched a v2 contract for GALA on Ethereum and distributed new tokens 1:1 to addresses holding the previous version of GALA at that time. This migration changed the Ethereum token contract version and the supported asset: the earlier GALA version was no longer supported afterward. Therefore, before transferring, depositing, or holding historical GALA, it is necessary to confirm that the receiving service supports the v2 asset and its corresponding network, rather than judging compatibility from the token name alone.
